BRIGHT HORIZONS FAMILY CARE PROGRAM
When you have work, family, and personal responsibilities competing for your time, there’s no need to stress. Instead, rely on Bright Horizons® and start making your life easier. A summary of the Bright Horizons Family Care Program can be found in the Benefit Overview flyer.
Important Reminders:
- All unused 2025 back-up care days cannot be rolled over and will expire on December 31, 2025.
- A copay of $6/hour applies for in-home child or adult care.
- A copay of $15/day applies for in-center child care for one child or $25/day for two or more children.
- A copay of $15 applies for converting one back-up care day(s) into virtual tutoring hours.
- No copay applies for converting one back-up care day(s) into a pet care allowance or credit with Rover or Wag.
- Once your back-up care days are converted into Pet Care or Virtual Tutoring credits, those credits expire 90 days after conversion.

You must set-up and use your online account(s) to access the services available through Bright Horizons. When setting your account, your personal details (such as first and last name) must match SwRI records. When entering your Employee ID, use all six digits (e.g., 008255)

BRIGHT HORIZONS BACK-UP CARE™

Back-Up Child Care: Next time school’s closed, the sitter’s on vacation, or you’re between child care arrangements, high-quality back-up care is just a click or call away. Register for free, and Bright Horizons will secure reliable care for you when and where you need it. Care is available in-home or at a participating child care center.
Back-Up Adult and Elder Care: When Mom gets injured, Dad’s recovering from surgery, or the regular caregiver calls out sick, Bright Horizons will arrange high-quality back-up care in their home.
Out-of-Network Care: If Bright Horizons is unable to find care for you, you have the option to find your own care through your own personal network (neighbor, friend, or babysitter) and receive a reimbursement of $100 per day to use toward the cost of care. Pet Care: Convert your back-up care days into pet care credit through a partnership Bright Horizons has arranged with online pet care provider Rover. Available services include boarding, dog-walking, doggy day care, house sitting, and drop-in visits. Further information on this service is available in the Pet Care flyer and FAQ.
Virtual Tutoring: Convert your back-up care days into virtual tutoring hours. Find homework help or academic assistance throughout the summer in 300+ subjects or targeted support in math or reading; children can be matched with experts who can identify areas of opportunity and help them excel. Virtual Camps: Powered by Steve & Kate’s, regular employees can use their back-up care benefit to book weekday sessions for their children (ages 3-12). Choose activities based on their interests (including fitness, Minecraft, digital art, mathletes, and more) and rely on a live concierge for questions and tech support. All regular employees receive 5 Back-Up Care days each year at an employee cost of $6/hour for in-home care or $15/day for one child ($25/day for two or more children) for care at a participating child care.
Back-up Adult and Elder Care is only available from in-home caregivers.
BRIGHT HORIZONS ELDER CARE™

A Care Coach – an expert in the field of elder care – can provide support, advice, and resources as you deal with aging issues of your parents and other elderly family members. by facilitating family conversations, sharing timely resources, and offering support through phone conversations and family conference calls. Your Care Coach can assist in scheduling an On-Site Assessment and interview with your family member, help with referrals for legal and financial assistance, or other specialized referrals.
The Elder Care program also includes access to an online platform which is designed to serve as a hub for planning, communication, and coordination of care tasks for everyone on your loved one’s caregiving team. You can control which caregivers and family members have access to view and contribute information to the platform.
There is no employee cost to access the Bright Horizons Elder Care services and the guidance of the Care Coach and other professionals. You will pay for any services you choose to acquire as a result of these consultations.

Find Sitters, Nannies, Pet Care & Housekeepers: Do you need a night out of the house? Are you looking for an afterschool caregiver or someone to watch your pet while you’re away on vacation? Get a free membership to the Sittercity database where you can find support that meets your needs: occasional and everyday child care, care for children with special needs, elder caregivers, pet care needs, and housekeepers.
Tuition Discounts at Child Care Centers: Enjoy exclusive discounts at participating child care centers that make child care more affordable. There are over 15 network care centers in the San Antonio area.
Nanny Placement Services: Receive discounted access to high-touch local support with recruiting, vetting, and selecting a nanny through College Nannies and Tutors. A $300 discount on the placement fee and a 10% discount on the ongoing hourly cost of a Nanny is available.
Academic Support and Tutoring: Search Sittercity to find caregivers who can manage small group learning pods. Receive a 20% discount on most programs, hourly tutoring rates, and available test prep services from Varsity Tutors and Revolution Prep. For preschoolers, a 65% discount on the annual app subscription is available for the award-winning digital learning tool, MarcoPolo Learning.
Enhanced Family Supports helps you find services that you and your family may need. There is no cost to use the resources described above to find service providers. You will pay for any services which you choose to purchase.
